Role Overview
As Moneybase continues its growth journey, we are seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering to lead our technology organisation through its next phase of expansion. This is a critical role for scaling our fintech operations internationally, ensuring that our engineering teams deliver secure, high-quality, and innovative products at pace.
The VP of Software Engineering will work closely with the CTO and executive team to translate strategy into execution, implement scalable processes, and foster a high-performance engineering culture. This individual will have proven experience taking teams from startup to scale-up, ideally within a regulated fintech or payments environment.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with the CTO on technology strategy and roadmap for scaling Moneybase internationally.
Contribute to IT Steering Committee discussions and represent engineering in strategic decision-making.
Drive best-in-class engineering practices, including agile delivery, TDD, DDD, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures.
Ensure on-time, high-quality releases across multiple product lines.
Define and track engineering KPIs across velocity, quality, and uptime.
Manage and mentor engineering managers, creating the right structures for a team of ~50 and growing.
Inspire and develop teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Establish and enforce high standards for software quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
Support regulatory audits and ensure technology is aligned with financial services requirements.
Promote a culture of innovation and adoption of new technologies, including AI.
Lead transformation initiatives that enable scalability and efficiency.
Oversee engineering budget, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to ensure efficient growth.
Job requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Proven track record in scaling fintech or regulated technology organisations internationally.
10+ years of engineering leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a VP Engineering / Head of Engineering / CTO capacity.
Hands-on background in modern software engineering practices (TDD, DDD, CI/CD, DevOps).
Strong people leadership skills, with experience building and leading multi-disciplinary teams through change.
Deep understanding of payments, banking, or other regulated financial services.
Strategic thinker who can operate at executive level, but also a disciplined operator with attention to delivery and detail.
