Summary of Position:

The Performance & Development Specialist partners closely with the Performance & Talent Manager to embed and continuously improve performance management practices across the organisation, ensuring they are consistently applied and effectively adopted by managers.

This role combines strong operational delivery with an organisational development mindset, ensuring performance processes run smoothly while strengthening how performance is defined, measured, and developed across teams.

It focuses on improving the quality of goal setting, KPIs, competency frameworks, and feedback practices, supporting managers to translate business priorities into clear, measurable outcomes and meaningful development conversations.

The role also supports the development of a more structured and data-informed approach to performance management, improving consistency, clarity, and visibility across teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performance Adoption & Ownership

  • Take an active role in embedding performance management practices across the organisation.

  • Drive adoption across departments by ensuring managers understand, engage with, and follow through on performance practices.

  • Act as a key point of accountability for keeping performance management active, visible, and relevant.

  • Bring structure and consistency while adapting approaches to different teams.

End-to-End Performance Execution

  • Own the execution of performance cycles (goal setting, check-ins, reviews, probation).

  • Manage timelines, workflows, and system processes with minimal oversight.

  • Ensure high completion rates and quality outputs across teams.

  • Proactively identify and resolve gaps, delays, or lack of engagement.

Improving KPI & Goal Quality

  • Work directly with managers to define, refine, and challenge goals and KPIs.

  • Ensure goals are outcome-driven, measurable, and aligned with business priorities.

  • Help teams move away from activity-based goals towards meaningful performance indicators.

  • Bring structure to an environment where performance practices are still maturing.

Feedback, Growth & Development

  • Support managers in embedding regular feedback practices, beyond formal review cycles.

  • Help structure meaningful performance and development conversations.

  • Encourage a stronger link between performance outcomes and employee development.

  • Contribute to building a culture of continuous feedback and growth.

Manager Enablement & Engagement

  • Support managers in building capability and confidence in:

  • Goal setting and performance management

  • Feedback and development conversations

  • Contribute to a structured rhythm of communication, training, and support activities.

  • Help design and deliver practical training sessions, toolkits, and guidance materials.

  • Act as a sounding board, while reinforcing manager accountability for performance.

Performance Operations & Data

  • Maintain performance workflows and ensure strong system adoption.

  • Ensure data is accurate, complete, and reliable.

  • Track progress, completion, and key patterns across cycles.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and ways of working.
